Our Story
When Rhonda and Beth decided to create a business it wasn't
a decision that came instantly. Beth, who is very creative, was always making doll clothes for family members and to
sell. One day she expressed interest in buying a home embroidery machine to embellish her doll clothes with lovely designs
or names. Rhonda, who is very fun loving and outgoing, immediately jumped on board with the idea and expressed
interest in embroidering hats and shirts.
As the idea grew, Beth located a business that sold embroidery
machines in Nashua, New Hampshire. Excited that they might see one in action, they immediately drove down to the store
to see it. When they inquired about the item, the shop owner expressed that he doesn't carry them in stock, but
he would be happy to order one. He then proceeded to tell the pair that if they thought they wanted this size embroidery
machine, they might want to consider making it a full fledged business and spend a little more money to get an industrial
machine. Exchanging glances, Rhonda and Beth instantly became excited about the idea, and Buttercup Embroidery
was born.

Our Name
The name Buttercup Embroidery stem's from the movie,
The Princess Bride. This is one of Beth's favorite movies and she often annoyed her family so much with
quoting lines from the movie constantly that they finally started calling her "Buttercup".
When
Rhonda asked her what she wanted to name the business, she immediately replied, "Buttercup Embroidery." Rhonda
being the easy-going individual that she is, simply said, "That's awesome!" And the name of the company
was decided.
